Backups

A backup is a restorable snapshot of your server’s files. Make one before every risky change — updates, new plugins, world edits, reinstalls.

  1. Open Backups and select Create Backup.
  2. Give it a descriptive name, for example before-1.21-update.
  3. Optional: lock the backup so automatic cleanup never deletes it.
  4. Wait for the status to finish before stopping the server or making changes.

Backup limits and automatic retention are set by your administrator. If creation fails with a quota error, delete or download old backups first.

  1. Open Backups, find the snapshot, and select Restore.
  2. Restoring overwrites current files. Download anything you want to keep first.
  3. The server is stopped during the restore and must be started afterwards.
  4. Verify the world loads correctly before deleting the backup you restored from.
  • Backup cadence: before changes (manual) plus a recurring Task for daily/weekly safety nets.
  • Keep at least one locked backup from before major version upgrades.
  • Download critical backups off-site — a backup on the same node does not protect against node loss. Administrators handle node-level disaster recovery (admin backups).
